2wd vs 4wd springs
« on: January 11, 2016, 01:39:57 AM »
I know this is a dumb question and ive looked everywhere. Does anyone know if the sprigs for a 2wd are different that springs for a 4wd 2nd gen?

Well they sell oem replacements and they have 2wd and 4wd versions and from what i remember the 4wd are taller ( thinking you're talking about the front ones right?)

Correct. I get a set of bilstien 5100s and got a extra set of springs and top plates and now my truck sits lower than it did before but I realized the springs came out of a 07 2wd. Gonna have to take my stock 4wd ones an replace

Springs do settle and may wear out and compress more but you should measure your stock 4wd one and just remove 1 2wd to make sure. maybe confirm what i have read.

Well after I posted the OP I did some more research and they are different p/n fo 2wd and 4wd and found a post were Greg from prg states they have different spring rates. I'll be getting  spring compressor Friday and swapping them out. I also noticed before my ball joints went out the front end felt like there was too much weight up front. Kinda like a boat going over wake at low speed

are you planning on keeping the 5100s?
If so you could just run a stiffer spring and upper control arms and you could get more lift
