Next event?
« on: January 28, 2016, 06:31:13 PM »
I had a great time at the 2016 Kick off run. So much fun I'm already thinking about the next run. I know some people are hardcore 4x4 here in AZXC and I don't want to get in the way of extreme trails. So, I'm proposing doing light, family friendly rides. There are a lot of very good scenic trails in Arizona that only require 2WD and a little clearance. I'm curious how many others would be interested in doing some light trails "Green or Blue" trails? If so, post up. We can plan something. 👊

I'm always down for some trail riding and camping events, it is usually just the fight for time off.  Moved this to member coordinated events, although maybe it belongs in general discussion?  Anyways, lets see if we can get another run going!

I say alstrom point outside of page. Its awesome and a good fun trail to drive. I did it in a stock 4x4 but did it in 2wd the whole way.

I'm always up for easy trails and camping if time allows. This month I'm tied up Sat & Sun so it will be a clutch moment in my case.

I would like to hit up a two night trip somewhere at the rim area.

Stoic V mentioned some cool spots on the last trip, I would like to do some of the overnight hike/camp trips he mentioned.

As a hike/camp trip I plan to do the crater tanks this year sometime, I would like to do it before the mine closes off access.

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

There's a lot of variables when it comes to doing a snow run, many of Prescott's forest roads have high exposure, and doing that in the ice and snow is just  not worth the risk. I do know a bunch of smaller trails that I can lead on for a shorter trip, but they are definitely a "several righ pack" kinda run, not a crowd like the kickoff run.

If it's open, FR300 or Rim Road (usually 2wd) is an excellent scenic drive along Mogollon Rim, and also check yourself as you drive over ice and snow. Enter (from West end) on 87 a little North of Cinch Hook, and from the East side on 260 at the Woods Canyon Lake entrance.

If making a trip through Payson might be nice to take a tour to Payette Draw area might have lots of snow on the 2wd Nf-198.
Does anybody know if the 198 to the Fire control Rd is open to public?
If so we could get on the 260 up the rim towards the 300.
