TRAL Fundraiser Event - March 19th
« on: February 23, 2016, 10:41:14 AM »

Info taken from their Facebook Event page:

We are very excited about this event!

This will be a fundraiser for TRAL. If you don't know much about TRAL and what they do...please visit the website at

http://www.tontorecreationalliance.org/

TRAL is a non-profit organization that brings together a group of trained volunteers for the Tonto National Forest Service. They do inspections on closed trails, installs trail markers and reports back the forest service on any dangerous areas in need of repair or clean up. Their main goal is to keep our trails open, safe and clean. To organize these efforts they need more funding. Everyone that enjoys the outdoors on the beautiful Tonto National Forrest….should rally around, tell your friends and bring your A game. We have tons of games for the whole family. We will also have schedule runs throughout the day for 4x4 vehicles and motorcycle trails that will be led by experienced volunteers.

We will have more details to come very soon!

If it's in our budget I think we need to donate/sponsor to TRAL maybe get our club on their banners et cetera.

I like the idea of donating to a group that keeps trails right here in AZ open.

What trails do they keep open, and what does the money go to specifically? From what I know of the organization its an all volunteer force with some full time positions from a grant they received. From what I understand they provide man power for the Tonto Forest Service and use their own private vehicles to run the restricted trails and keep the open ones signed. Im not too familiar with Tonto trails but aren't most of the ones used forest service roads anyways?
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

I'd suggest checking the site, or attending the event to find out the details.

Im familiar with TRAL and do not like them and a number of their founders for various reasons. Whatever BS they have concocted for their event will never convince me to donate a single penny or my time to their cause.

Word!  I've been on a few cleanups with them, and was less than impressed.  In my words, they think their shit doesn't stink.  They can go pound sand for all I care.

Thanks for the report, it looks like I wont have time this weekend anyways.  I would like to hear them out when I get a chance, but if people are having bad experiences with them that is good to know.  Maybe they have changed leadership or something.
