  • Conundrum: Wow, with all the rain I've been in as well as flooding in the X on Fat Tire, I have a new issue. Set light blinking rapidly and goes away after restarting the engine. I did a little research and I guess the cruise actuator can get nasty and seems plausible since I went through a puddle on purpose on the right hand side and that made the set light for cruise start flashing again. I'll check it out after the rain stops. lol Have fun and be safe out there everyone.

Help with PRG lift install 5/21
« on: May 12, 2016, 05:00:41 PM »
I have the 5100 Bilstien's and the dual AAL's on order from PRG.  Greg had them in stock and said I should get them next week.
I'm planning a week long southern UT trip in early June and would like to get it installed before I leave.  Anyone willing to lend a hand/tools to get this installed.
I'll admit I no mechanic, but from what I've read on TheNewX.org and some videos I've watched it doesn't' seem too difficult if you have the right tools and an extra set of hands.

I have:
2 jack stands
Wheel chocks
wrenches/ratchet set
Stock jack and Hi-lift (if I need to lift for jack stands, though not fond of the idea.)
possibly some C-Clamps, I'll have to dig to know for sure.

Need:
hydraulic jack
Coil compressor
Ideally someone more mechanically inclined than me  ;D
garage, all I have is an uncovered driveway. I can make it work if needed, but not ideal this heat.

I'd appreciate any help the could be offered!

Andy

Where are you located? I won't be in AZ until the first weekend in June, otherwise I'd help.

Central Phoenix.
I think the weekend of the June 4/5 would be cutting it too close.  I'm planning on heading out later that week or the next weekend.

Thanks for the offer though!

I'm down to help. I'd have an auto shop do the springs. Spring compressors are dangerous.

But otherwise it's all an easy install. I bet we knock out the whole install in 3-4 hours.

Thanks for the offers everyone.  I appreciate it.  Rubio, what's your availability look like?  If the shocks and AAL's come in this week, would next Saturday or Sunday work or would Sat, Sun or Mon of Memorial Day weekend be better?
Do you have room for a mod day if others needed help too?

I was planning renting the coil compressor from Autozone or O'Reilly's, seems like it might be a hassle to try to line up a shop nearby that has one, pull the strut assembly and run it over in another vehicle, plus the shop cost.

Do you have air tools?

Hopefully greg was true to his word about having them in stock.

I can next Saturday night.
Or sunday. I have air tools yes.

What shocks did you get? I've used coil compressors once. Not too bad

The Bilstein 5100 adjustable.  There was some discussion on Club Frontier about how to properly assemble the 5100's with some good pictures and another diagram a couple pages later.
http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f26/beware-bilstein-5100-owners-65258/index5.html

Gregg said he was looking at them when we were on the phone.  He also said I would be getting a tracking number and should expect them on Tuesday or Wednesday.
I put the order in with him late afternoon Thursday and was charged Friday, but no tracking number yet.  I will contact him on Monday to get the tracking number.

I'll keep you posted.

Shocks and AAL's arrived from PRG yesterday, so I'm ready go.  Also picked up some rear 5100 Bils from a theNewx.org member, which should arrive Friday.
