ArkPak Review
« on: July 29, 2016, 05:36:20 PM »
Been using this guy for about a year now and I thought I would share my experience.  I really like having the second battery.  I really like this type of option because it allows me to keep my Wilson booster running all the time in poor signal areas and keep my phone/gps charging when the vehicle is off.   I also added the Arb power plug to the arkpak for a solid connection to the fridge.

Likes:
- runs Arb fridge for 3 days, 5-7 days with 60w solar.
- charges from cig lighter
- charges from solar
- two cig lighter ports
- battery terminals for running air compressor
- Inverter for everything else
- display screen shows power usage, charge watts and battery level.  comes in handy when seeing how well my solar panel is doing.

Dislikes
- covers are flimsy.  actually just removed the main one because it kept getting knocked off.
- Cig/wall charger port is like the plug you would have on an old laptop.  They didn't work good for laptops and it doesn't work good for this.  I already have to fiddle with it when I'm on the road to keep a solid connection.  This is a big deal for me and would keep me from buying again.  the on board charge controller only works through this plug.  Battery terminals and anderson are direct connections so you need a charge controller of some type for those points.

May go with 100w solar panel as I believe this will keep up with the fridge.  This way I won't have to fuss with the pesky laptop plug.

If I did it again, id probably go with National Luna across the board.  Love the Arb, but the Weekender with Fridge/Freezer would come in handy.  The National Luna batter pack looks like it's build very well also.

follow up review; Arkpak is still rocking, I have since had to replace the marine battery but otherwise it has been doing its job well powering my Arb fridge, wilson booster and dual air compressor.  I did upgrade the solar to 100W panel mounted to my roof rack so I no longer have to charge the arkpak at home.  With all my complaints about the flimsy exterior case, the electronics are solid and reliable.
