I have seen vehicles cross the river, but have never attempted it.  There used to be a bridge but it is shut down now.

I know several people who have crossed it on 33's. Not sure if this would be possible for 2WD, as its deep!

I have done deep crossings after building up the road here is an example of how easily an impassible crossing can be made into a road with a few hours of engineering. This crossing was also built in the rain by just a few people.

So me and Kyle ran this trail and looped it back to bloody basin and was the longest trail ever.
As for the kickoff run 2wd cannot run the entire trail and will have to turn around at the top. As for the camping its going to be pretty cold and windy. No river crossing till summer and we can check depth.

Still open to requests and suggestions.
Anybody want to vote crown king area?

I'd be down for crown king but we did a kick off run up there back in 2015. I won't be camping so as long as I'm home that night I don't care

Main thing to decide is if you want it to be a 4WD or 2WD event or both. I'm not 100% sure on exact numbers but I believe about 1/3 of the AZXC members are 2WD.

We should for sure include 2wd trails for those who dont want to push as hard as well as the 2wd's who will attend

FR300 from west to east is 45 miles of scenic high country dirt road, ok for 2wd and those 4wd folks who don't want to push it. You'll end on the east side w/ lots of land for dispersed camping near Woods Canyon, etc. Down the hill, cabins can be found in Christopher Creek, Payson, and Strawberry.

Was just at FR300 it was inaccessible by 2wd(besides tire chains) if you don't mind freezing Dugas Rd is a nice 2wd to the top but not looped unless 4wd.

I don't think we have a hard set rule on 2wd accessible.  My preference has been for the kick off run to be 4x4 stock accessible, though we have had some 2wd out in recent years.  I know Bloody Basin isn't an issue.  With Crown King we have had 2wd make it, but if we had run into snow at the top it could become a mess quickly.  It is usually nice to have the camping area 2wd accessible, with wheeling trails for 4x4.

If Chuy can chime in. Is there any trails in Superior / FJ that are 2wd accessible to a campsite and 4wd can keep going to explore?

Plenty of 2WD trails in the area off Cochran Rd, and lots of 4x4 and more technical 4x4 options that splinter off from Box Canyon.

Cochran Rd to large wash to Copper Basin Rail Road Bridge to Cochran Crossing 2WD

South to North or North to South Box Canyon- Stock 4x4

Box Canyon to Martinez Mine - Stock 4x4

South Box Canyon past Coke Ovens to Cochran Rd - 4x4 + 33's or skids

Jack Handle 4x4 + 35"s

Highway 2 Hell 4x4 + 35"s

Lots of other optional obstacles in the area, too many to name or remember. If someone had a big map of section 37B, I could point out all of the trail areas and some excellent large group 2WD accessible camp locations. I was just there this past October.

I would like to do crown king because it is stock 4x4 accessible and modified 2wd accessible. What's nice is there are obstacles for the modified 4x4 to play on. It's also a family friendly run with places to pull off and have lunch and room for the kids to play around.

I'll throw my hat in for CK.

I could also do Pyeatt Draw as that was a lot of fun with a good camping area.

I think Box canyon is doable for 2wd if we come down the trail from the north.

Can we please try NOT to coordinate this event on the weekend of Jan 28th and Feb 11th?  I have a scout thing those weekends.

Thank you,
Sn0
