Raw Deal
« on: January 13, 2010, 10:24:59 PM »
Raw Deal is a short, but fun trail out at Table Mesa, and many of the Xterras on this board can run it with no problem (well, some careful spotting, but that is about it).

Location: Table Mesa Road off I-17
Rating: 3.0 (lower Raw Deal)    3.5 (upper Raw Deal)
Vehicle Requirements: 33" tires, sliders, front/rear recovery points.

As Ted stated above: most Xterra's in the club are capable of running LOWER Raw Deal without any issues. Upper Raw Deal is a different ballgame. I ran lower RD in my gen1 IFS with 31" tires and an LSD in the rear - never had a problem.

Parts of this trail are on State Trust Land, so consider getting a permit if you are going to run it.

Sadly, Raw Deal is now closed.  It was an area that had too much renegade shooting at (near the entrance to the trail), and the BLM / AZ FS had to fence it off.

Figured that I would update this, as what used to be the main entrance is closed, but this trail is still open and doable as an "out and back" trail.  You'll need to drop into the wash on the south side of the road just before the main road forks (left for the lake pleasant gate, and right for deeper into TM).  Next time that I'm out there, I'll snap a picture of the drop in point.  There are no signs for this trail.
