  • Conundrum: Wow, with all the rain I've been in as well as flooding in the X on Fat Tire, I have a new issue. Set light blinking rapidly and goes away after restarting the engine. I did a little research and I guess the cruise actuator can get nasty and seems plausible since I went through a puddle on purpose on the right hand side and that made the set light for cruise start flashing again. I'll check it out after the rain stops. lol Have fun and be safe out there everyone.

Scott from Avondale
« on: April 28, 2017, 09:24:22 PM »
Just joined today.  Thank you!  I currently live in Avondale.  Been in Az since 1995.  Born and raised in Illinois.  Served 12 years in the Marine Corps.  Relocated her after.  Married, 4 kids, 4 grandkids.  I am new to the Xterra but not Nissan.  I used to own an 05 Titan. Loved it.  My wife has an Infiniti 37 which she enjoys driving.  My 06 Xterra has lots of miles and needs some TLC that the previous owner neglected to do.  I am currently scheduling a timing chain tensioner replacement in about a week.  This ought to be fun for sure. Not.  Anyone want to help?  I look forward to all the knowledge everyone has and gives freely.  I hope I can be of some help to you all as well.

Welcome aboard! If you aren't in a hurry, we can post up a mod day for you and a few others who need the help. I know Xtiki was planning a lift install today. Not sure I'd tackle it on my own.

Where in Illinois are you from? I'm also from Illinois, Sterling/Rock Falls.

I grew up in Aurora.  Moved in 1983 when I went into the Marine Corps.

After all the reading I have done on the repair, I think I can do it in my sleep.  Now the hands on part might present a different challenge.  I am sure up for it though.  It just scares me that my timing will jump or be off one tooth on the cam chains and I won't be able to get it running again.  I still have to order the water pump.  Good idea to change it while your in there.  If I am successful with mine, I could lend a hand with yours.

Welcome aboard.
I was born in Ill too; used to go to the pancake house in Aurora and fish at the Dundee dam. Not sure if either of those is still relevant, just childhood memories. Thank you for your service too.

DBax. I used to work at the Original Pancake House. You know there is one in Scottsdale. I have not made it over there YET. And yes they have the huge Apple Pancake. I used to fish at Philips Park.

Welcome to the club. Its nice to have another west sider.

I am originally from Wisconsin (yep I broke up your Illinois party you all are having). Moved here in 1995 as well. Spent ten years in the Navy and loved it here so much I came back. Thank you for your service.

I am dreading the day I have to do mine. I am at 80k on the odo so I have some time to learn about the procedure. When are you going to tackle it? Id like to help if I have free time.

I want to this Saturday but need to order a water pump first from rock auto. I figured change it while I'm there.
