  • jcm45: Hi everyone, I just joined up here and am looking for some advice. Anyone have a shop they recommend for their Xterra? I just purchased an 02 and discovered the seller managed to cover up a thrown rod so likely need a new engine. I've called a few shops and most seem to not be overly familiar with them. I don't want someone inexperienced potentially doing something wrong or milking the labor. Can anyone recommend a shop that's had this done before?

Was thinking about this...but I keep hearing about spring bucket hitting the UCA. Need to do more research.

Going to upgrade the stereo to a nice double din unit.

Yea CBC is what limits it.

I don't need to go really high just high enough to do 285's if I decide to... I'd like it to sit level more than anything.

I marked off the contact points at full droop w/ PRG UCAs and cut away the issue area. No more droop/contact issues..
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..

Not hard at all really, just let it drop and mark the line w/ a sharpie then go to work. Yes, a cutting wheel, then grinder to smooth it down. Shot it w/ some black rustoleum and they're good to go. Over 75k miles and no stress or tearing issues in the bucket tops.
