  • PitSnipe (Kyle): Wow, I have not heard of this issue. 15 hour job for a $50 part is nuts. Hopefully someone that knows of this issue will speak up.

  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

July 2017 Camping?
« on: June 26, 2017, 06:11:38 PM »
I'm thinking we need to get together and head out to Fossil Creek area this coming July. Permits are required, and they are day use only, we'd have to hang out and camp somewhere nearby.

Personally, I'd like to go the July 8th weekend or the 22nd, or the last weekend. I think I am available those weekends. I am probably not available to go the weekend of the 15th as I will most likely be volunteering for #OHVAmbassadors, but that isn't 100% yet.

You should be able to select more than one date in the poll.

Keep in mind that Fossil creek is only ten degrees cooler than phoenix. Avi and I found out the hard way.

I figured but maybe we'll get some  monsoon weather. Or maybe somewhere further north? We could do Lake Marshall/Mary again...

^^^^^^

Main reason I dislike summer camping. Now maybe some lake fishing kayaks for the day.

Once the monsoons hit up north they will get a good cool down and possible fire restrictions will be lifted if the wild fires are cotained

I guess if you're sitting around the campsite all day.

Got to get up on the rim this time of year, Fossil creek is perfect in September.  Is there no camping allowed at Childs anymore?

I'm open to suggestions but even the rim is warm right now. I picked fossil creek as it has water features which might make the day enjoyable.

The Crack, is a beautiful spot, but likely crowded this time of year, as is the day use area right at the beginning of the trail (Wet Beaver Creek). But, you could splash around all day, and take Schnebly Hill up a couple thousand feet to cool off at night..

Anyone here know about the rope swing on the upper verde at Needle Rock?
Well, now you know.. 33°46'31.8"N 111°39'48.0"W
 Shhhhhh...

You can always bring a fire ring, ran by propane. I have used one in the past and they work great funner summer camping and cooking on. They are really inexpensive if you order one online.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Bear Flat campground is up on the rim, shaded, and there is a cold river to cool off in.
