DIY Squaredrop Camper Build
« on: February 12, 2020, 06:19:59 AM »
A few of you follow me on the Instagrams and such but I figured Iíd post here.

A few months ago I decided to build a camper out of a HF trailer I had sitting around that very rarely got used. This is that time line to show the build.

Started off by widening the track from 4í to 5í and added lots of gussets along with welding every single joint that previously was bolted together.

This was the very first iteration. It then sat for a solid month before I did anything. I started at it a lot.

Last weekend I decided to take it all apart and start completely over and Iíve given myself a crazy deadline to make it ďcamp-ableĒ by the kickoff.

This week Iíve welded in a new axle. Went from 50Ē to 72Ē and 4 lug to 5. I also prepped for the Maxxfan. At this point I need to cover the inside and close up the back side. Then I can go get it sprayed.

Tonight I ran power for the fan through the walls and finished the last of the interior insulation. I also started prepping the surface for coating. Most likely doing rhino liner or similar. Hoping to get that done early next week.

Sheathing in process. This stuff is really easy to work with. Cost a bit more than I wanted to spend but itíll look much more ďfinishedĒ.

White roof, red sides, black trim.

Interior is covered and most of the outside. Random out of caulk and adhesive. Tomorrow though!

Camped in it this weekend. Stayed dry. Win for this round. Progress has slowed to a crawl. I still have lots of finish work to do. I did pick up a peg board from ikea with a pile of different options for totes and hooks which will work nicely depending on needs.

Flooring is in and the bench is structural now which includes a toilet, storage, and the spot the AC will go. Also started working on the poll cot bunk for my little one.

Fenders and graphics will be here pretty soon so itíll look a little more finished I still need to corner mold everything on the outside as extra insurance to stay dry. Work has definitely slowed. These parts are the tedious ones and Iíve come across a few minor design flaws I would have changed if I did it again to help with the ancillary items.
