May Xcursion - May 16th - Pleasant Pickup and Camping
« on: April 19, 2010, 09:03:19 AM »
Man, have I been busy! I have so much club stuff to catch up on. Thanks to all for helping me with the forum questions and such.

I sent off an email to Anna, the Volunteer coordinator at Lake Pleasant, letting her know we are interested in the May 16 date. She will email me back more info and the area that needs some TLC.

She also liked the idea of kayaking for trash, so let me know if anyone is interested in that or if anyone would like to borrow the kayaks to help. Maybe we can do "shifts" in the kayaks. (I just really, really recommend having a life vest that fits properly... speaking from experience).

My idea would be to head up to the lake in the mid-morning time and spend the afternoon taking care of whatever needs to be done. Afterwards we can play, hike, kayak, wheel or whatever in the area that we just fixed up. In the evening time, maybe we can do a potluck barbeque. For those who what to camp over, we can enjoy adult beverages and tell stories over a camp fire (pending no fire restrictions of course).

I'm sure Anna will explain the details in her reply email and I will forward that to you guys. This will be just the Club and our club’s friends so we will be taking care of ourselves out there. The whole idea here is that we always pick up trash anyway when we wheel and camp... so why not do it in an area that needs the TLC and get some wheeling time out of it.

PM me, email me, post up or whatever to let me know if you will be coming so I can get an idea of what needs to be done.

This has been planned and the park was really excited. They were looking forward to having us. But I had to tell them that there really wasn't going to be the turn out that I thought.  :(

They would like an accurate head count so they can have the day passes ready to be picked up.

So if you are interested, let me know.

9-ish... depending on who's going... if it's just a few of us we can be flexible with the time.
