I just got word from Chris Gammage at the BLM that they will be having a cleanup on November 6, 2010.  I realize that this is six months out, but I wanted to get the word out as soon as I could (in hopes for more volunteers).  I'll post up more information, as I get it.

This will be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of like-minded 4x4 enthusiasts, to see some really well-built rigs, and to help keep our trails Clean and OPEN.

I will keep this thread up to date, as I will be helping the BLM with the organization of the Table Mesa Cleanup.  In the coming weeks, I'll be contacting Tim Huber (the organizer of the 4 Peaks Pickup), to get an understanding of what all is needed to have a successful cleanup.

Just wanted to give a quick update:  Chris @ the BLM was able to borrow a 40 yd rolloff dumpster from the County.  The one condition is that they want someone to camp out so that no one shoots it up and/or lights it on fire.  With this in mind, I'll be camping out at Table Mesa on Friday, Nov 5th.

Also, Chris is working on getting a full sized map printed out of the TM area (that should help us with planning the cleanup sites).  If I get the map prior to our Sept meeting, I'll bring it along.

I PM'd Tim Huber (organizer of the 4 Peaks Pickup) to get some pointers on how to organize a cleanup, and how to ask for (and actually get) donations from companies.  Some large companies require a Tax ID and also non-profit status.  I'm going to check with TreadLightly! to see if they can help us on that front (it would be awesome if we could use their info).  Without the non-profit status, we may only be able to get smaller, local companies to donate, but that is OK, too.

I need your help in getting the word out to as many people as possible about this cleanup.  If you are on other boards (other the Nissan boards) please post up on those sites.  Thanks for your help!  If all the clubs work together, we can make a difference at Table Mesa.

Sounds like it is coming together well, Ted. I have seen this clean-up mentioned on the VJC and AZFJ boards, so that should help get the word out.

I may be bale to camp with ya on Friday the 5th to help guard the dumpster - we can sleep in 2 hour shifts  ;D

Awesome guys!  At least I won't be alone out there.  If you guys are interested, the FJs usually go out to TM on Fridays for a night run.  You may be able to join up with them, if you so choose.

I'll pass on the FJ Friday Night run & just hang out by the fire. I've heard some stories that scare the poop outta me. Wasn't but a coupla weeks ago that one of them rolled pretty bad out there in a non-recoverable spot. Insurance company had to hire a 'specialty vehicle recovery' company.

Maybe a little run up and down Raw Deal though.  ;)

^^I hear that.  Not looking to roll my DD - that is for sure.  Lower Raw Deal has some trash on it.  I wonder if we should make this part of the cleanup?  IIRC, there is on old POS camper shell and other trash about 3/4 of the way through Lower Raw Deal.  Also, the western side of that wash is also trashed.  Might be able to have some quad guys go in there with some small trailers...Just a thought.

In the coming weeks, I'll probably be out there quite a bit determining which areas need the most help, and marking them on the map that Chris from the BLM will supply.
