Blacked-out 2nd Gen
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:39:10 PM »
Driving north to Payson on the 87 Friday afternoon: saw a really clean looking 2nd Gen totally blacked out - body, lights, wheels. Had an Xoskel light bar on top. Anyone???

No not Wally. This was a VERY clean truck - no pinstriping, scratches, or AZ dust. No tire carrier IIRC or front bumper.

That was me.  Aaron.  I was heading up to the rim with my girlfriend to camp for the weekend and do some wheeling.  Only place to go wheeling during the summer heat in the valley.  I'm up there atleast two weekends a month in the summer.

We were in a hurry to get up in the woods, or I would have slowed down to say hi.

I'm on the thenewx.org site all the time.  I'm just not very social on it.

Oh by the way.... you have a really good looking 1st gen too.  Maybe one of these days my X will be that high.

Thanks,
Aaron

Really nice looking Xterra. I like the blacked out tailights.  8) Where'd ya camp up there? We were up past Strawberry a little bit.

What trails do you wheel up there? I'm not aware of much besides Payette Draw for 4-wheel drive trails. I know there is a lot of forest roads that are suitable for high-clearance 2wd.

Thanks man.  I'm suppose to be getting my shrock bumper in the next week or two.  I can't wait for that! ;D  Will make my X a look a lot better.

We usually camp up by woods canyon lake turn off / road 300.  Our spot that we always go to is deep in though "25 miles" or so.  No body around us which is awesome.  We camp up thru Strawberry right before winter ends and starts though too.

And about trails.... I've been thru the Payette Draw a few times.

I guess you wouldn't call it wheeling, maybe off-roading for me.  We like to take the X on some pretty awesome forest roads that haven't been driven on for a while and spot out elk and deer and what not....  But I'll tell you one thing, there are some forest roads that need the 4wd button pushed on, which is fun.  Prob nothing like what you are used to though.  Fun for me and girl though.  There are a lot of roads to explore on which is fun.
