New Ham Rig on the way!

You know what!!! I just had one of those damn epiphany things... I went in the garage, stood in the middle with my hands on my hips and thought for a moment. And then... you won't believe what I saw standing in the corner.... under the rolls of Christmas wrapping paper... an F-N shinny Diamond antenna.

It's a DP-NR2C. I had to look it up to see what it was. It's only a two meter (I'll need a dual bander). But that's ok. I'll hold me over. And it's pretty rigid. So I'll have to be really careful not to snap it off.

But wait. Oh no. The connector. OH NO! It's a PL-259 and my new mount is an NMO. I think the heavens just chit on me.  :'(

Update:
Adam cut my antenna down to 19 3/4" for me. Still no joy.
I'm able to hit the repeaters with my handheld, but just can't with the new mobile.
I have great, clear, full scale receive, just no power getting out to hit the repeaters.
I can key up the handheld with the mobile and vice versa, but that doesn’t say much when they're sitting on top of each other.
I think I'm going to be forced to check the RF line which is all neatly tucked away under the interior plastic pieces.  :(

Update to the update:
I'm dumb.
I forgot to set the tone for the repeaters. I'm glad I figured it out before I started posting up for help on other forums and ripping the truck apart. It's just been a while.
So it works.

Boy, sounds like you spent your 4th of July working on that radio... but success at last.  Glad everything thing turned fairly easy.  So are you planning on running with it on most of the time or just when wheeling.

Looks like I will be buying new rear leaf springs from Alcan (or whoever makes custom springs) before I buy my radio.    But my goal is to be HAM ready by Christmas.
