I'm down for 10am. This time of year a late start isn't a bad thing. The Coves are easy enough to navigate that if someone wants to get there early/leave early, it wouldn't be a big deal.

10am on New Year's Day will be plenty early for a lot of people. ;)

I agree lets plan on meeting between 0930 and 1000 at the chevron!

Never been to the Coves, how long will we be out there? Not a big deal, just curious.

The Coves are out at Saguaro Lake/Butcher Jones Recreation Area. I would guess that we will be out there for 4+ hours depending on how much playing/exploring people wanna do. The nice thing is that it is easy to bail early if needed & head back to the parking lot at Butcher Jones.

I've spent entire days at the Coves expolring each cove and I've spent <2hrs just going out to test new equipment.

Ok so let me say sorry in advance for asking. I dont know if this ok or an insult but my neighbor has a Toyota Tacoma 4x4, I was thinking he could do this run with us, is it ok to ask him? Or no, this is for Xterra or Nissan's only?

Sorry again if I insulted anyone.

AZXC Has always been inclusive to other wheelers, especially if that means you're not going out alone, however in the group shots, try to stay to one side so you can be cropped if needed. :)

So, if I'm reading between the lines correctly, it is ok for him to come along but don't allow him in some pics or at least the group Xterra one.

As Adam said bring your buddy with.  Wheeling events are open to anyone who wants to come along with a member.  The pic thing is what it is when we post up pics to use on the forum, so I am sure you know what we mean.  Everyone is welcome though, and the NON-Xterra folks can see what our truck is about and then maybe go out and buy one!   ;D

Watch for closures out at the Coves and be repectful of them.  I know I don't have to say that to you guys/gals but it is just a reminder.

Heads up:

http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?68042-Butcher-Jones-80-shut-down

Someone may want to go out there to check it out. May consider another location for the kick off run :( I know the Coves area very well & would be happy to ride along on a pre-run.

Maybe 4-Peaks, Sycamore, or Florence Junction would be better??? Florence only has 1-2 trails that I'd be comfortable taking a stock Xterra on (Box Canyon) but it is a good intro trail with some beautiful scenery & an infinite amount of old mining roads to explore. There are good places to shoot or camp out at Florence if people wanted to.

4-Peaks/Sycamore are do not have much in the way of trails or obstacles - mostly just rough dirt roads & some mining roads. Not much of a 4wd experience IMO, but good scenery & places to hang out/have lunch. It is also a little further drive for anyone coming from Tucson (though not too much more than the Coves).

Florence Junction should be the plan.  There are a few trails as T-Ray said so lets move the kick off run to there?  Any objections?

This will prevent chaos at the coves!

What chaos is going on at The Coves? I really was looking forward to The Coves, can we keep it here?

Umm they are closed and lots of other closures because of the accident there.
