  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Box Canyon of the Hassayampa River, north of Wickenburg AZ
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:29:16 PM »
My wife and I, along with our boy Roo, went exploring north of Wickenburg, AZ along the Hassayampa River bottom.  The trail is detailed in the Trail Series "Arizona Trails, Central Region" book.
http://www.amazon.com/Arizona-Trails-Central-Region-Massey/dp/1930193017

The trail is rated 4 out of 10 because of deep sand and some rocks and small boulders.  The "Box Canyon" is a foot trail off-shoot of the riverbed and is pretty cool.  Another cool feature of the trail is the water.  The river runs underground except in certain areas where the bedrock forces the water to the surface, with melting snow up north, the water was running pretty good.

This is a fun trail thats stock friendly, beautiful scenery with many off-shoot trails to explore and areas to camp and explore.
Entrance to the box.

We didn't get far because the trail continues on the other side of the ladder and our shephard Roo doesn't like ladders.

Looking back towards the main trail.

Driving down the wash.

Exploring one of the side trails.

Trail heading back to river bottom.

Thanks for looking!

Thats where I ALWAYS go off roading.  You can really open it up in some parts of the river bottom where there is just sand.  A lot of the time people hang out there in the canyon playing horseshoes, drinking beer, grilling, etc.  Wickenburg rocks.

That is indeed a fun area. Has some mild rocky areas & a good climb up to an old mine that you can walk in. I used to love the wide open sandy wash too - lots of high speed 2wd fun!

Thanks guys!!  I'd like to know where the mine is too!  Once we hit the wash, we just drove around exploring, we didn't stick to the trail outlined in the book.  If anyone heads out on a saturday, post up, I'd love to explore futher!!
