I also have a friend who has a glock 9mm he's had for about 6 years and he hates it (which police carry everyday) because it has had multiple jamming problems not discarding the cartridge, he's taken it in and had it fixed/tinker'ed with and it still happens, he would replace it if he had the money but his wife is in college and is waiting.

Either way, we can go back and forth all day, some have had good experiences with one and some not with others, in the end, I have a hard time believing the Ruger I have is a POS you are all making it out to be. It works for me and my friend and Im happy with my purchase.

Well you never hear of a Sig or HK jamming!  Just had to throw that out there!

While I like my XD-9, I prefer the Sig 2022 for it's da/sa attributes.

Many international federal agencies are bring the 2022 on at the tune of 100k-200k units per contract.  While the aftermarket for the 2022 is lacking, the hope is that with the influx of police trade-ins, the support will be forth coming.

However, like azxterra410 stated, opinions vary. I would suggest you rent a few firearms and send a couple downrange.  The XD has a different feel than the XDM, just as the 2022 has a different feel than the 226.

Oh, and size does matter.  What are you going to do with it when you're not in your vehicle?  A full sized sidearm is much harder to conceal carry without showing an outline.

Food for thought.

TBH I don't know that I will ever carry concealed regularly. Maybe after a few years of getting more practice under my belt but I am noob enough to not feel comfortable with that yet.

Ok... Then why would you carry in your vehicle?  I don't mean to kick you in the nuts, but do you think you will be more comfortable wielding a firearm and driving at the same time rather than presenting your firearm from a steady shooters position while walking down the sidewalk?  You are going to be hard pressed to find a course that deals with the proper sidearm handling from a vehicle.

Just my two cents, do the rest of us a favor: either get some traing on becoming comfortable or leave the firearm at home.  The last thing we need is some politician pushing a "gun control" law through because some inexperienced gun owner shot himself, or even worse, someone else unintentionally.

If you are in a position that you fear for your safety while inside your vehicle, remove yourself from the situation. Don't draw your firearm in a defensive gesture. You may end up hurting you chances for a favorable outcome.

Remember, don't point your firearm at anything that you do not intend to destroy.

The idea of keeping one in the vehicle is not to literally be shooting FROM the vehicle, but rather to have access to one when out and about, offroading, camping ect. I keep the one I have at home where I sleep for home defense and would like to have another gun so I have one for other things. I understand everyones concerns with rookie gun owners, and I am one in terms of alot of people but I have been around them and used them enough that you need not fear me shooting my foot off. That being said I do intend on taking a good class at some point in the near future now that I have the time for it.

Give the XDM 4.5" barrel 9mm a try.

I had a dwindling list and that was the final choice.

Sig was on the list, s&w M&P, the original XD and a few others.
I presently carry a s&w 3913tsw daily. When I can afford I will be moving to the XDM.

I have the XD 40, when I looked at all the competition I was very impressed by it.  To me I was unhappy with the S&W trigger pull, I don't remember which model but if you move to the higher end S&W they correct that issue, but then your talking 800 or so.  Also found the Glocks to be a little more expensive and I like the round indicator that the XD comes with.  I don't like having to switch a safety so I didnt like the Sig, Taurus, or Ruger.  That's how I made my choice.

I will say I find it a little large for me as a CC, although i can make it work.  I am considering a shorty 357 as a CC just as something I can always have on me.  Or maybe a 9mm single stack.

No trigger safety but if you like it then it is a good choice.
